Not all disposable protective gloves are the same. We go over how latex, vinyl, and nitrile gloves differ.

Difference Between Gloves
disposable

The main difference between some disposable gloves and others is in their composition. While latex is a material of natural origin, the rest of the materials that we can find on the market are synthetic materials and, depending on their characteristics, they may be more or less appropriate for different jobs.

Disposable work gloves can be classified according to four criteria:

Sensitivity

It is the ability of the glove to transmit touch in a natural way without noticing that we are wearing it. It is of vital importance for sensitive handling work, such as in surgical settings. In this sense, latex gloves are the most valued.

allergens

This criterion determines the propensity to cause problems derived from allergies . In this regard, synthetic gloves have greater advantages than natural latex.

Endurance

Strength can be measured by the stretch or puncture resistance of the material. In this case, nitrile and vinyl are king, while latex is more prone to tearing from puncture or stretch.

Price

Each type of glove has an average price, with vinyl gloves being the cheapest and nitrile and latex gloves being the most expensive.

Latex gloves

Latex gloves are the most used in the healthcare sector thanks to their high resistance and the protection they offer against chemicals or fluids. However, this material, being a natural compound, can generate allergic reactions.

vinyl gloves

Vinyl gloves are not as resistant as the previous ones, but they adapt very well to the shape of our hand. For this reason they are used as a biological protection against liquids and non-abrasive body fluids (saliva, blood...).

They are cheaper gloves that offer less elasticity and it is advisable not to use them for long periods of time.

Nitrile Gloves

Nitrile is a synthetic fiber similar to latex or vinyl. The big difference is that they are anti-allergic, allowing free use for all types of users.

Nitrile gloves are also the most resistant and protective against abrasive, chemical and infectious products. They are used in laboratories or any task that puts dermatological health at risk.

In summary, depending on what you need them for and the function they are going to have, you should opt for one type of disposable glove or another.
